Keena Azania Romano, Cultural Healing Arts Educator
Core Member
(she/her)

Keena exercises her creative mind through the exploration of diverse artistic mediums as a way to engage and understand individual and collective purpose. Romano received her BFA from Pomona College then returned to her native Bay Area to pursue a career in the Arts. Her Murals can be spotted from Sacramento, California to Oaxaca, Mexico.

Inspired by cultural practices, Romano combines spirituality with urban experience to produce work that draws upon the quest for a greater understanding of intersectional beauty in this world. She fuses traditional native arts with contemporary inner-city techniques to reflect a new language that encourages the healing and empowerment process between community members and their environments. Her style is described as “vibrant and insightful”.

She aspires to travel and create a colorful trail of art by exploring the modern Diaspora based on her multi-ethnic experience. Keena has been bringing this confluence of experience and skills to the HCC as a dedicated volunteer since 2014 and is excited to be joining the HCC Core in 2018!

HCC Practitioner Directory
We are so happy to release a fully designed and carefully curated roster of healers in the Bay Area pooled from our dedicated network of over 130 practitioners of 46 distinct modalities who are here to support the healing of our community. This resource is made possible through longstanding relationships with healers in the Bay Area who are aligned with our values and offer free/sliding scale services to people referred through the HCC network when possible.

Resource: Guide to Organizing
A Healing Clinic

Since our first clinic in 2013, over a dozen large and small-scale healing clinics have been directly inspired by our work and we continue to receive requests to organize similar healing clinics from communities around the state, country, and internationally. Because we are a majority volunteer organization, we do not have the capacity to organize clinics for communities beyond the Bay Area.

To support the growing movement for Healing Justice and closing the gap between sacred and political work, we are thrilled to share our philosophy and planning process with others so that they can envision and recreate healing spaces that serve their communities.

Dearest community ~ we hope you are all well, and that this finds you in good health and strong Spirit

The HCC extends its deepest and most sincere condolences to anyone who has lost someone to the coronavirus. We know that many people in our community have gone through very stressful and strenuous circumstances either healing from Covid-19, supporting a loved one who has been infected, or supporting friends & family that need assistance with Safety Solidarity. We know that a spiritual perspective on this virus doesn’t reduce the pain and grief of losing a loved one. Our hearts and love go out to you, we send our prayers to the Spirits of loved ones lost, and the energy required to continue holding much personal + community care work

The prophecies are unfolding...the Earth is uprising. When you know something needs to be done for reasons of integrity and righteousness, and you don’t do it yourself, the spiritual forces will make it happen for you, sometimes in ways that are destabilizing and painful. This is what we believe is taking place at this moment. The global "we" has known for far too long that the modern, western, extractive way of life has been burning our collective candle at both ends. A globalized, capitalistic and neocolonial economy combined with severe degradation of Earth’s natural systems & habitats have made it possible for this pandemic to occur while intensifying and accelerating the spread of COVID-19. Not to mention our inept US government’s failing attempt to continue business as usual and uphold the current economic “stimulation” model when it’s clear that capitalism isn’t working. Sadly, public health has been put on the back burner while nurse midwives and grocery store workers have become “frontline” workers of this pandemic. Because the globalized extractive economy has set ecological disruption in motion, we can expect more pandemics in the coming years…
